The
2009 Decorator's Showhouse featured twenty-six Atlanta designers in
three units of the new luxury ST. Regis Residences. Using a series of
condo spaces is not a new idea. Huntsville, Alabama used three downtown
condos for their 2007 Showhouse. This provides the visitor with a
fabulous array of talent. The condos in this outstanding high-rise
featured, as Huntsville did, a choice of styles. The 13,000 square feet
of Live Design offered opportunities to wander through Contemporay,
Traditional and Transitionally decorated spaces full
of fresh
ideas.
Each
home included an outdoor covered terrace with breathtaking
views.
All the rooms
were serene, and neutral. Some integrated
splashes of
color. There were a variety of browns, dabs of
dusty teal,
rich deep
blue,
greens and accents of buttery
yellow.
Texture and understated fabrics abounded as shown in this outdoor
design by Boxwood Gardens.

Elegant tile
work, open and fascinatingly designed kitchens and divine
spa bathrooms made for a most inspirational tour.

Many of the
rooms in these 3 high-rise homes
were multi functional. This expanded
the living space. Interest was
added to the mostly neutral walls with
the use of Faux Finishes,
grass cloth, and gold infused
wallpaper. Unique
& elegant
chandeliers and lamps were displayed at
every turn. Especially
beautiful
was the use of Murano Glass
chandeliers for example as seen in C. Smith Grubbs Interior Design
Dining/Library shown here.
Some of the best details
were:
- The use of
distressed mirrors on walls or framed
- Upholstered
headboards
- Soaking tubs
- Glass
& Lucite accent tables
- Organic
accessories
- Glass and
crystal chandeliers and lamps with a new flair
- Architectural
accent pieces
- Venetian
plaster
- Replacing
overhead kitchen cabs with tall storage units
- Unusual
outdoor fabrics such as velvet
- Large
groupings of framed sections of antique city maps
- Dining/library/sitting/room
combos
- Versatile
modular seating
-
Display ledges
